I'm doing some work on a contoured delrin stock insert that has had big holes drilled in it and some chipping. Looking for a filling agent that could be used to effectively fill the holes and large gaps before re-machining it for bedding. Hoping it will be oil/solvent and heat resistant and not shrink excessively while drying, and also fuse well with delrin without weakening it. I've never really done much with delrin so don't know if there is a standard epoxy for this. I've been thinking of using loctite plastic bonder, but wanted to get CGN's input before committing to a product.

Looks like Bondit b-45th is an epoxy that will work. Looks like it might be nearly $100CAD for 1.7oz. Self lubricating plastics like Delrin and UHMW polyethylene are notoriously hard to bond.

Thanks for the tip on the bondit - hadn't seen that. I know what you're saying with being hard to glue - tried experimenting on a piece and it's quite resistant to everything so far :/

There's a Canadian supplier call , Fiberglass Canada, go to there web site, they'll have alot of different filler you can uses. And will tell you what will work...everything for carbon to fumed silicon.

res-n-bond will bond delrin 100p to delrin , you will need another piece of delrin to put into the stock

Works for me - do you find considerable weakness at the bond compared to plain delrin if the fit is good? I know some bonding agents are marginal with delrin. I'm aiming to mechanically lock it in place as well, but would like it to be as stable as possible.

no weakness at all, fit must be tight. you can melt 100p (shavings from the stock) in the res-n-bond and paint into hole and fill with a tight plug, use some gentle heat as well; find out if you can, the type of delrin if you can match it, 100p is most common
