Compact lightweight semi auto that will handle CBs or shorts your recommendations

Any thoughts on finding a compact lightweight semi auto for shooting grouse while out walking trails when big game hunting? Something that would handle CB’s or similar quiet shells would be ideal.

Any recommendations?

My Winchester Wildcat will reliably cycle CCI Quiets, as will my Norc SA22 copy. Never tried shorts or CBs in either.

The quiets are the way to go and the SA22' copies do indeed cycle them which is pretty cool, it's pretty easy to hand cycle quiets if they don't fully eject.

The Ruger takedown's are nice as well, but since you mention carrying as a second gun for shooting grouse while big game hunting, I would suggest something lighter then a SA22 or 10/22 takedown.

There was a thread discussing this very subject started a few weeks back and my suggestion for that role is the Little Badger. Plenty accurate for one shot kills and not a big deal to reload for a second shot if needed.
