I have always thought that it would be nice to have an ergonomic (collapsible stock with pistol grip), compact (collapsible/folding stock) and dent/scratch/corrosion-resistant (synthetic stock and inox / marine barrel) single shot (12ga) shotgun that was non-restricted and thus could be taken along as a reliable backpack/bush gun.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

H&R gets my vote as well. It takes less than a minute to assemble or disassemble it, and the foregrip uses a standard 1/4"x20 screw that can be found in any hardware store. I've got a Handi rifle in 223 and bought a machine screw and a wing nut. Sawed off the head of the screw to make it a plain stud and put the wing nut on there so I wouldn't need any tools at all to disassemble or reassemble it.

Try the dominion arms backpacker, They'll be restocked later this year at Canada Ammo for 150.00. Wood stock though. ):

i have an h&r tamer in 20g, 19" barrel, nickel plated, synthetic stock, and a proper ejector too. small, light, and tough, neat looking gun too. new they're about 200$.

Baikal has a bunch of different single and double barrels available.

Very well built, and very reasonable prices.

Try Gagnon Sports or Epps.
