Any alternative to Briley Industries companion tubes. I have a Browning citori Lighting Sporting clay edition with a 30" barrel. It seems impossible to find used companion tubes and new Brileys go for $500 to #600 each! I am looking for a full set

Well there is briley sidekicks which aren't full length about 900 for the set plus tax and everything.

A full companion set will run you around 1200 + taxes.

Seminole used to make chamber mates, but I believe they're out of business right now.

There was a thing called Rhino Stingers on the market for a while, not sure if they are still available. About half length.

Really your best option is a set of briley or kolar fitted tubes dollar for dollar.

gwagan, any tips on sending a gun down? Who do we talk to, what do we ask for, what are the right choices?

If you want fitted Kolar tubes, best option is Rick Lawry Lawry Target Sports Caledonia, ON Just google it.

If you want fitted Briley, best bet is Rick again.

If you want Briley companion, you could go through Rick or Gagnon sports in Oshawa w w w.gagnonsports.com

For fitted tubes, both companies are going to want your barrels obviously.

Companion work just as well as fitted, but fitted are nice to have and have slightly resale value with the gun.

Companions you can sell without the gun.

Also to add sometimes Briley will deal with you directly, you have to call and see. Only catch is even though it's perfectly legal to send barrels through the mail, you take more of a chance then with Rick.

Also depends on what kind of gun you have, you will need to have the triggers converted to mechanical or modified inertia. Kolar or Briley can do this for you but it is going to cost a lot more for rick to send the entire gun down. Browning and beretta's can be handled easily by many competent gun smiths in ontario.

I can recommend some if need be.

If I were going to tube a gun right now, I'd go through Rick, and likely get a Kolar Tubeset, not that there any better performance wise than Briley just that they are ultra light for the same price and the standard weights from Briley.

But Briley Ultralights are also nice.

I'm shooting the Briley Untimate Ultralights presently in my Krieghoff but I did use the Companion tubes for years in a Browning Citori, as did various members of my squad (the others are still using them). After many, many thousands of rounds I wore out one of the nylon bushings that holds the tube in place; Briley sent several replacements at no charge.

They are fantastic and are really the only way to go in a tube that can be had without sending your gun to the USA for fitting. The short tubes of various varieties that have been mentioned previously all seem to have issues of some kind or another. I have not seen anyone shooting them in registered skeet for some time, and there's probably a reason for that.

If you do spring for the Briley tubes, definitely go for the ultralight option. It's worth the $100.

Also run sidekicks in registered skeet with a 686 and PFS stock. They work fine.
I got lucky and didn't need a trigger modification to shoot .410, which was nice.

The sidekicks were 750 ish for the set
