So, venturing down the comp road. Looking at Agency arms 417 or PMM if I can find one…. What’s everyone’s thoughts? I am looking for something single port that can use factory recoil spring and 115 grain ammo along with eating everything else.

I am thinking of one for my wife’s Glock 19x and for my Glock 17.

Look forward to hearing thought, thanks guys and gals of CGN.

Contact Devon at Black Box Customs. He is amazing to deal with and was able to figure out what I needed. He is usually pretty quick with replying to email. I bought the Zev Pro com v2. Works well with my factory spring and I mainly shoot 115 grain. It super easy to attach and clean as well.

I have an Agency arms 417 single port on my Glock 19X but I had a hard time finding a barrel long enough to mount it properly. I tired 3 different threaded barrels before finding one that was long enough to work but still not 100% it should be 1-2mm longer still. The 19X has a slightly longer slide then previous 19's that requires and odd size slightly longer barrel to mount the Agency Arms comp properly with enough threads. Agency make a longer barrel specifically for this but no one had one in Canada at the time. Other then mounting problems with the newer slightly longer 19 slides, it works well, I have shot factory loaded 124 and 147 grain with the stock recoil spring assembly with no problems at all.

I am swapping over to a CGS cube comp that I ordered from the US, its easier to install and remove for cleaning, I do not like the tiny set screws a lot of other comps use to secure them onto the barrels, and the hassle of clocking the ports properly with shims etc.

I also have a Zev on another Glock 19 I have with the OEM Glock threaded barrel and that also works well, didn't require any special barrel length and I am also running the OEM recoil spring setup on that with no problems shooting 124 and 147. I was not a fan of the look of the split clamp design at first, but it works well and is simple to install and remove. They now have a Gen5 specific model that meets up with the slide at the muzzle very nicely just like the Agency does.

Here you can see the issue mounting the Agency Arms gen 5 comp on a 19X with your average G19 aftermarket barrel designed for gen3-4
And this was the 2nd longest barrel out of the 3 I had to try. I ended up using another one that was just a bit longer and just covered the holes in the comp but should have been 1-2mm longer still
Barrel protrusion requirement from Agency Arms for their comps is 0.715" +/- .005"

Its not even long enough to cover the holes for mounting the front sight on the comp

I couldn't find any available with metric factory Glock threads, so I decided to make my own this past weekend. Turned out pretty good. Works fine with factory spring. Planning to hit it with extreme temperature Cerakote tan to match the slide next time I set up for painting. Kind of digging the bead blast aluminum finish though.

Haven't put a pile of rounds through it yet but it seemed to help getting back on target. I am by no means a great pistol shot, either.

Doesn't really help you, I guess. Just thought I'd share since I just made it and the topic came up.

Or maybe I have a CNC machining center, a rainy day, and a desire to create? ;)

I always forget about Black Box.

I purchased the agency arms single port in gold excited to put it on my new Glock 19. Turns out I have the left hand metric threaded barrel....
Contacted black box customs they seem to be the only ones that carry compensator with the left hand thread. They are sold out though

If you have issues with the barrel not being long enough maybe the zev comp will work better. Instead of having set screws pushing into the barrel they have 2 screws clamping and squeezing the comp onto the barrel.

Had the same issue so I bought one from IRUNSGUNS and had them import it, cant find it on their site anymore however

I also ordered another brand of comp (CGS cube comp) from Brownells, and they also have the Zev Metric 13.5x1 left hand in stock at the moment

If you dont mind waiting 1-2 weeks you could order one from Brownells, cost a little more with the shipping and tax but not much and you get it pretty quickly depending on what shipping you pay for. Wont get gold though

Yes I have 3 different comps, ZEV metric, CGS cube, and Agency 417 single port

The Zev V2 metric LH is on a Glock 19 gen3 with the OEM metric Glock barrel

I wanted the Agency for a different Gen5 pistol because of the way they make the gen5 specific comp meet up with the end of the slide for smooth transition from slide to comp. Since buying that Zev has also come out with gen5 specific comps that wrap around the nose of the slide, but that was not on the market yet back when I bought the Agency, if I could do it all over again I would go with the ZEV gen5 as the I have a ZEV slide also on that pistol. Would have been perfect match, and I didnt want a gold barrel either, but that is all Black box had in stock that would work for me with the Agency comp
