I'm wondering if its against any particular rules in competition if one was to shoot prone with a towel rolled up and put under his chest/sternum to get some support?
I've been fighting with costochondritis for about 6yrs if not more, finally getting a bit better the last year but I still can't and lay down on my belly without some sort of support, which only makes it bearable for a bit longer.
For practicing I'll do what I have to do. But I tried google and couldn't come up with anything on it. I know there's gotta be other guys shooting dealing with this same issue.

thanks

I have never seen where the thickness of the shooting mat was ever questioned in fullbore competition here in Canada or the UK. ISSF rules may be different.

In truth it would be more of a hindrance than help as it really alters natural biomechanics. I can't see any rational person disallowing it unless absolutely specified in the rules.

Thanks very much for the information and link to dcra. I'll do some experimenting to find something comfortable enough to shoot in that position. Great to know it shouldn't be a problem.
