competitive pistol shooting in B.C.?

Generally the clubs post calenders of events on their websites. A good start is to find out what clubs are within reasonable driving distance to you and what events they have.

Over here in the lower mainland Port Coquitlam and Thompson Mountian host IPSC matches. Chilliwack has monthly IDPA meets. Mission Rod and Gun has Speed Steel and Cowboy Action. But really I can't see paying the cost for the ferry to come over only for a day. Better to check what you've got on the island already.

Parksville also has a .22 handgun plinker shoot, check their website...........
 
Look up Island Shooting League (ISL). IPSC style shooting. Victoria Fish & Game has monthly club shoots during the summer.
