We just finished holding our 1st Intro to Competitive shooting clinic and I think it went well. We had a final turn-out of 18 people after half dropped out in the 2 days before the clinic:( but In the end, I think this was a good number.

We tried to keep the gum flapping to a minimum and make the focus all about the process of participating in an f-class/ISSF match ala BCRA. We had a stiff wind out there and I don't think the final scores were a fair indication of the potential of either the shooters or their guns.

We had a good turn out of experienced shooters to lend a hand and I would like to thank Judy, Mark, Richard, Marc, Luc, Art, Jim, Steve, Barry and Tom for their help! I think we all learned a thing or two about how to pull this off next time!

Most of all, thanks to the participants! I was truly impressed with the level of interest and the results! The Cajones award goes to Rishu-Pepper for trying to shoot 300M with a 204 in a 5 minute wind! The "Greenshot" has to go to Cassidy C. that participated - and she's only 10!!!

I hope this has inspired a few of you to come out and shoot one of our for-real f-class matches!

Cheers,

Ian

There seem to be lots of gun owners or enthusiasts, most of whom seem to find the idea of what we do on the range to be fun or interesting. Yet most seem somehow turned off by a "competition" or a "match". Also, most also seemed turned off by the comparatively regimented day on a highpower range - unlike a 100y walk-up range, you can't really drop in when you want, fire a few shots, then leave after an hour or two; or at least, that does not fit the way we run things. Dunno if this is something we can practically address on a highpower range or not... ideas...?

You can count me in. I have been wanting to do this for some time. I just don't like the thought of going in blind. I live on the coast so if you can give me some lead time I will be there. I will probably be able to talk some others from my club into coming as well. Thanks, Kevin.

I'm in, also depending on where. Kamloops is central to most, and ok I'll be honest, only an hour from me. :D

I would be interested in a class like this next year. It's a great idea. I'd also like to take some classes on long distance shooting eventually.

Kamloops is a great location with a great range out to 500 m. It also has a lot of very experienced F-class shooters with a lot of knowledge. I would definitely attend if it was there (and had enough notice to arrange the time.)
