This just sold today in the US for $3300, was in excellent condition and all matching including cleaning kit, thought everybody might be interested in seeing that deals still exist!

That is a good price. I paid more than that for a sporterised one today with no scope can or chest.

I notice this one does not seem to have the TR marking on the wrist. The electro-pencilled/engraved(?) marking on the scope bracket is a new one on me too. But those two items aside, there appears to be more than enough right on this setup authentic.

Honestly, the price is not that low by U.S. standards. This seller did well I think because he was able to provide those quality pictures.

Here in Canada the asking price on Enfield snipers, especially Longbranch, has gone over the top. A lot of Enfield snipers were sold off surplus and I didn't think they were ever overly rare.

There's a similar nice Enfield sniper with scope and crate sitting on a U.S. dealers site for $3595 and not moving. (collectorfirearms.org) *edit: the one on this dealers site right now is not matching, so my example is not too great*

I think the average price for this sort of sniper rifle in the U.S. is around $2200-$3200.

The $4000 gun (as well as the first one) are all matching. The one Steve links to is non-matching, so really is worth no more than the sum of the components. I would agree that generally British commonwealth rifles do not generally fetch the same prices in the US as they do here. Much the same way with US firearms here.

You're correct. Didn't catch that, I thought it was all matching or maybe he's listed another one. That dealer has been blowing off a lot of inventory lately with their massive sale (most things were very overpriced before).

Do you guys think the market here can sustain prices of $5000+ for nice Enfield snipers?

There was one here in Alberta that sold for $5500.00, plus 10 % buyers fee, at an auction I went to a couple on months ago. They said it as all numbers matching, if that is the correct term, but I didn't look at. Was just surprised at the price, didn't realize they were that collectible.

Yep. The only way it will go down is if there is another global economic collapse. Prices have finally recovered from the collapse of 2008, and quality pieces have appreciated.

I remember in the mid 90s going to a gun show and seeing Ts in their crates all over for $800 each. I bought two in the space of a month in the late 90s for that price. Nowadays, that $900 won't even get you the bare rifle. You pretty much need twice that to buy an original scope.
 
You forgot to mention lot #276 at the same sale.A 1945 long branch sniper with mis-matched british scope went for $7000.00.Add the 20% buyers fee and you are up to $8400.00 plus sales tax.Close to $10.000.00 in canadian funds

I'm really suspicious of that one... It's a perfect match description of one I've been eyeballing on an American vendor's site. I wonder if anyone emailed him for a pic, and if that pic would match the same American vendor's site. Add that to a low post count and low feedback count (easy to rack up a couple positives with a handful of dummy accounts glad handing each other).

Or maybe I'm just paranoid, with all the talk of scammers lurking in the EE.

Yeah, but it is only just a plain old Longbranch sniper and I know how most of you guys are sick of looking at them by now. Okay I will put some pictures up of it too, just so nobody says I am playing favourites LOL!

Also they comment in the estate auction that it is one of the nicest that they have ever seen, so that may account for it's price too. The guy who had these in his collection must have been quite a Lee Enfield fan.
