Well the ones I had had a lot of caked on cosmoline, so I thought I would field strip them, remove the plastic grips then boil The frame and slide in a pan with water and Lymans ultrasonic cleaning solution. Afterwards, I would throw them in my ultrasonic cleaner with more Lyman solution, do a full disassembly, dry everything off, lube with Seafoam DeepCreep and be done with it.
I started at 10pm, by midnight, I conceded the only way I was going to reassemble one, was to partially disassemble another, by 1 am, I conceded I needed to partially disassemble a third to reassemble the 2nd one. By 2 am, after I had finally reassembled the trigger and hammer assemblies, I said F-this, and just sprayed every crevice of all 3 guns with DeepCreep after reassembling them all.
I think I could do itagain quicker, but don't think I ever will...
At least I got all the cosmoline off...
Maybe that wasn't such a good idea, because as Ganderite said, all the pins in the grip fall out WHEan THEY are not held in place by caked on cosmoline... Man was that frustrating.
