Im debating on a ramline stock for my 336 just to lighten it up some as it is my go to gun for whitetails. The gun has beautiful walnut that I love however this is only to lighten ip the rifle as it is 7lbs bare and It also wears a bushnell red dot. This rifle is carried at least 6 hrs a day while walking the woods during deer season. Any help is greatly appreciated

My big loop 45-70 has the laminate (grey) and blued steel. I routered a good channel through the forend and drilled some large holes in the butt stock under the recoil pad and it made a huge difference for weight and balance. I did not weigh before and after, but was pleased with the results. It does affect recoil, but I spend a lot more time carrying it than shooting it.

I have a Ramline on a Rossi 92 clone and it's basicaly a cheap plastic stocks, off the top of my head....
pros are lightweight, reasonably durable, inside can be used for storage(adds weight)
cons are noisy scraping branches unless coated and filled with foam and not as "nice" as wood.
