I was just wondering for the compound bow crowd, how far do you feel comfortable shooting at?

I practice a lot out to 50 yards, and I can get a 4" grouping in 5 shots pretty much every time

What's the longest shot you've taken anything with?

My bow is a diamond black ice with 28" draw, 65lb pull, no string accessories with a drop away rest, I think at 50 yards there's tons of punch there to still take down a deer?

Depends on broadhead, arrow weight and entrance.

If going for white tail, i wouldn't push past 30, they can duck alot faster than u think!!:p

Barns, trees , garage doors and grain bins, I'd say 50+ is okay!

Depends entirely on you, the type of arrow and broadhead, is the target relaxed and stationary, have you made that distance reliably in practice from differing angles and elevations. Its up to you and your confidence but 30 to 40 is about as far as most shooters should go, I have a hunting buddy that has made shots out to 60 yards, but thats his call and he has to live with any wounded animals.

100%

I try running for 50-100yds then grab my bow and shoot a target at 20-30-40-50yds and see how I do.....Thats my practice....Because I'll tell you what when that huge buck steps out your going to be anything but cool and collected. Your heart is going to be pounding out of your chest your going to start sweating possibly shaking......

So far I'm only good out to 20-30yds doing this but if I just setup a target and shoot at it with no pressure I can do well out to 50yds.....I limit my shots to 30yds because I know once my heart gets going and I get a bit of buck fever I can't hit a barn past 30yds.....

Thats a pretty good idea! I also practice a lot from a tree stand, from my ground blind, and while walking to and from my stand locations, also once I am in my stand I will shoot a practice arrow at a leaf or a stump. Any in field practice is better than standing on level ground in the back yard or at the club with little to no pressure.

My personal max distance is 50 yards, but where I hunt I never get a chance that far. Of the 22 deer I have shot, only three were beyond 20 yards, with the max distance being 27 yards.

I practice up to 30yards. (From all sorts of angles and elevations)

That's my comfort zone.

My bow is currently tuned to about 55lbs. I use a PSE Primos STL with Easton aluminum 2016 gamegetter II arrows and 100gr Thunderhead broadheads.

My groups are generally very tight up to 30yards. (I've frequently busted nocks off arrows by hitting them with the next arrow when I'm target shooting.) :D

And, no release...I shoot fingers. (Which is odd for compound shooters...but hey, it's my bag baby!)

I try and practice with all my gear on, backpack and knife included, to make sure that nothing is going to get caught during my draw or release.

I practice out to 50 with my broadheads.

This is an interesting thread. Personally 40 yards is my max either with my compound or crossbow. But here is why I find it interesting. I am in Arizona every year and my freind used to work at the PSE factory so we always go through and tour and then go to thier range and fire a few arrows with the newest equiptment. The first year I was there I was flabergasted!!! These guys practice at 100yards consistantly and made fun of me shooting at 20 and 30 yards. I told them that more than 40 or 50 yards twe would be definately ridiculed back east. And they said they hunt in the desert mostly spot and stock and to get much closer than 60 -100 yards is almost impossible. Since my freind has shot antelope and cous deer at 90 -100 yards... Nothing I would ever ventuer but I guess if you practice and have the right gear it can be done.
