These two files speak for themselves. The date on this file is 2/18/38. I think you are beginning to see the start of higher production on the M1 Garand.

Without input from you guys no one learns anything Try to put in some info/question and we can learn more of the M1's History.

Some files have been seen before.

You know, you post so much info and every time I read it.. I don't really know what to do with it but I read it anyway. I'm just not learned enough to know what it all means or what to do with it. Though I'm sure it helps someone out there out immensely. So thanks for posting it!

I'm sure its appreciated by many.

TheWharGoul,

Clancy posts little bits and pieces of the history of the M1 rifle, think of it like history class and each time he posts something and you read it you just gained a little more knowledge of the M1 Garand. :)

Like this one, you may have realized it or not but this file shows that the production of parts to be assembled into M1 rifles and spares in early 1938 they are ordering (internally) the production of 1620 rifles based on the fact they are ordering 1620 receivers and the US didn't and still doesn't (I believe) keep receivers as spare parts. But you'd notice some parts they need 1 for each rifle are not having 1620 parts ordered most likely because Ordanace has the parts on hand and doesn't require new parts to be ordered for this next batch of rifles. :)

Dimitri,
Thanks for the answer for TheWharGoul. Sir it took Ordnance over 18 years to come up with the M1 Garand. What may help you is to buy one of my books, you will be back for the other. In the book form I breakdown each Order from Ordnance to show in English what is going on. Then reading the file you see how it all come together.
I hope this helps you to learn a little about the M1 Garand.
Thanks again Gentlemen
Clancy

So are the extras ordered for spare parts? Very interesting to see what parts they most often found needed to be replaced (wear, yield, breakage etc.)
