Hey all,

I am working on getting my C96 ready for the range in the near future but I am concerned that the firing pin is not protruding enough to hit the primer. I haven't fired it yet but I have field stripped and cleaned every part (and every part matches too). I tried an experiment with the action closed and with no live ammo but using a screwdriver to push the firing pin forward from the back to see how far the firing pin has to go before it comes out the other end of the bolt. I wasn't able to measure it but I would say the pin had to pass the back of the bolt by about 0.2-0.3mm.

I guess I could try and get ahold of some dummy 7.63 Mauser rounds but are there any other alternatives (short of getting an ATT to take it to a gunsmith) ?

I wanted to see if the firing pin does indeed move forward as it happens way to quickly for me to catch it with my eyes. I put one finger on the front of the bolt stop and dry fired once and I sure felt it move. A good sign anyway.
