Condition of 7.62 surplus - safe?

Hi all, I'm new to using nato surplus so would like your comments/musings on the safety of some of the cartridges in a Portuguese battle pack (FMM 78-20) I purchased at a gun show today. Mostly cosmetic tarnish, but some have abrasive dark and white spots like the one on the left - problem? Thanks in advance for your experiences/comments

i've seen several batches of port 7.62 nato, which i bought early this year. never seen them in the condition you described...humm, weird. anyhow, i cannot comment on it, and i will let the experts to answer your question! good luck!

Its safe, but I would conside lightly steel-wooling the bigger chunks off, to prevent feed and extraction issues.
