I think there is an outfit in Pennsylvania that does scope rings in that same style.

I think they are called S & K Skulptured Bases.

Perhaps the ones you have are that type???

Who knows who copied who but I like the clean lines of the design.

Thanks for the info Surfclod. S+K is an outfit from Austrailia and they don't claim ownership either. Wish the mounts were mine ,but the pic is from a 2007 Leupold Anniversary Edition Catalouge. Beginning to think they are custom bases with Conetrol rings.Got no response from Leupold as to maker.

558,

The rings really look exactly like S&K's, out of the US, as noted by surfclod. However, I'm not so sure about the bases, they look nothing like the S&K product. Matt, recently of Williams Firearms, is making bases that are somewhat similar in profile to those in the photo. His rings however, are not one piece. More questions than answers I guess...

Perhaps, as you mentioned, they are a custom job.

Best of luck in your search!

that setup looks pretty sweet, but how do you get a 1 piece ring onto the scope without bending it out of shape as it has to fit like a glove afterwards ?

hutchster,

I have no experience with the Conetrols, but as for the S&K's...

They are a little strange to install when a guy is used to 'standard' two piece rings. The rings come only 'partially formed' and are sort of springy or malleable, if that makes any sense at all. It takes strong fingers to force them over the scope, (a wrap or two of electrical tape helps to protect the tube) and then strong fingers to squeeze the rings together into the bases. Once in the bases, the rings are tightened via the set screws in the base sides. Easy peasy... sorta.:)

I have one set of S&K's and will not hesitate to buy more. They really are a great product. Beautifully machined and very 'sleek'. The best compromise of strength, weight and aesthetics, IMO/E.

Got reply from S+K
Those are our rings and bases... we don't make our bases like those... someone machined ours and customized them.
Thanks for your inquiry.

I was looking at this earlier on my phone and was going to say they had to be S&K's but the picture was pretty small to be sure. Whoever did the customizing did an awesome job!

I had a thought in the back of my mind that I was going to get the boys in the machine shop to turn down a new set I have coming, the above picture just sparked my interest again :)

If you can find that leupold advertisement I think the maker of that rifle is listed and yes those are custom mounts. You could then follow up with the maker. Slim and trim looking. I have a number of s&k's and love them. For the record I ordered a set from them two months ago and they have no problem shipping direct.
