When getting the barrel cut down is it possible to use a compesator similar to this or what is recommended?

2001 M14 M14 US Coast Guard / Navy Muzzle Brake
New and improved -- now made from 1144 Stressproof® cold drawn barstock steel for greater durability, tensile strength, and yield characteristics.

Yes it is possible. Thats what TRGod had on his shorty at the Clinic. One of my rifles has one as well but it is the castle nut style made for the M14. You just need to have the AR one reamed out for a .30 cal

Has anyone tried this bushmaster brake out ?

A 5.56/.223 caliber copy of the very effective Russian Military brake found standard on the AK74 Rifle. Screws onto threaded muzzle barrels and locks in place with an Allen head set screw (Note: a peel washer is required for correct timing during installation). 3" overall length. Muzzle climb is controlled by three upper gas ports - recoil is diminished by four 45 ports directing gas at an angle from the weapon, and a contoured flat at the end of the brake directs gas sideways.

If so were might find one?
