OK, Firstly I am a lefty, so this thread may be simply solved because the Remington rifle I am questioning is their NEWEST model varmit gun and I don't think it is or will be available in LH.

BUT MY PROBLEM IS WHY THE PRICE DIFFERENCE. The Model 700 VSF LH in .223 is $1200 bucks, only difference is the barrel is fluted and stock slightly different.

The Model SPS Varmint in .223 with heavy barrel and neat looking stock is only $549 bucks on sale at SIR!!!

I mean if the rifles are basically the same quality, I will save half a G, and buy a righty for peat sakes..

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME HELP:rockOn:

Ah, the two I have trouble deciding between.

Which is better for plinking, potentially hunting and accuracy; 10FP .308 or T3 lite .308?

Sorry if I 'm gettin off topic, I have an M700 and need a 2nd rifle

The SPS is the "Basic No Frills" version, or in shotgun terms, the "Express" model.

Plain Jane, pretty basic injection moulded stock & bead blasted/blued metal finish, but for the money, they will generally shoot.

The VSF has comparatively a fair bit more going for it ... in shotgun terms
it's like the "Wingmaster" compared to an "Express". And yup, about double
the money !

I just checked the SIR site and they are listed @ $594 in the special section.

$549 was too good to be true. :(

$549, $594 what ever! Still a very good price, for basically a nice rifle and less than half the cost of the VSF

Thank you beretta boy, You are the only one so far that has provided me with a logical reply.

I'm surprized with some of the comments, as they are what I would expect from the smart assed black rifles guys not the hunting sporting folks.

cheers:eek:

beretta boy's response was a good one. The Model 700 actions are generally the same, except for jeweling and finish sometimes, and the differences between the various models generally lie in the stocks and barrels.

I'm eyeballing the vsf for an entry level precision gun. The target crown prob adds a few bucks, the flutes definately do.

The stock is the big price bump, and I think it is prob about a pound heavier than the SPS - important if you're slugging it up mountains and such. For matches, not so much.

edit: From $594 to $939 ($969 for LH) is only $345 more. Not a huge deal and not half a grand to be sure.

Up to you ... is the "better stuff" in LH worth another 40 percent more
to you ? IMHO, if I were a lefty and it was a hunting rifle, it would be to me !

If primarily a bench gun, I'd be just as happy as a lefty
with a right-handed gun ... no more reaching over the top !
(Your face isn't "on the gun" for loading/extraction anyway!)
A fair number of bench rest shooters purposely build their guns
with actions (Kelby/Stolle Panda) having right hand bolts and
left side loading ports.
