I would like first list the pistols that I've already owned in the past

-Sig P220 9mm
-Beretta 92FS Inox
-Beretta 92FS Inox Compact
-Sig P226 X5 9mm
-DE 44Mag
-Kimber TargetII Stainless 9mm
-Colt 70 Series Stainless 45 Auto
-Glock 17
-Glock 26 (Restricted)
-Glock 21
-Hammerli Esse-X
-S&W 686-6
-Sig P226R
-Sig P230 (Restricted)

But what i've kept in the end is the Sig P226R and the Sig P230 (which is just for fun). Recently, I've been thinking that I want to buy another pistol, but do not know which route to take. Now keeping in mind that if I buy another pistol the P226R must go. I'm not so sure I can find a pistol that I'd be more happy with than the Sig P226R. Anyone else ever get the feeling that they're not happy with what they have, despite eliminating all of the above and ending up with the one that you should be happy with? I'm lost and confused!

If you're already happiest with the P226R then I don't think anyone here will be able to tell you what will make you happy.

It's like anything. If you have it for a while you start to think there is something better.

So my advice is keep the one that makes you happy and use it.

Then to further you're happiness, sell me the Kimber and 686 at a super low price. That way I will be happy too! :D

Sorry buddy, the Kimber and 686 has found new happy owners within the CGN community already. :p

I was thinking perhaps buying a Sig P226 Equinox, but besides for the looks and the different caliber, I'm essentially with the same gun.

I don't see any .22LR's on you're list. Believe it or not I have some of the most enjoyment shooting my .22 semi auto.

It may because of the ammo cost or it's accuracy.

Or at the other end of the spectrum a .454 Casull?

I just got a M&P in 9mm and even though it's the same caliber as my other semi autos, it's new, it's different, and because of this I like it.

The solution to your dilemma, is that you are NOT KEEPING ENOUGH HANDGUNS ! After the novelty of the latest acquisiton has wanned, you are in remorse for the good ones that are no longer with you...........This situation can only be rectified by building a solid foundation of arms that one can reflect upon over the course of time. Remember that an arms collection is generally less expensive than a car collection (been there, done that also).
