Ellwood Epps was my favorite gun dealer. Not anymore. And this is because of their relatively new search engine on their website.

For instance, let's try to look for Kel Tec firearms. Kel Tec is not on their left side short list; so you go to "search". You start typing type "Kel" and ... boom, you get the most amazing and useless bunch of options. They give you "Kel Tec", "KEL TEC", "kel-tec", "Kel-Tec", "Keltec" etc. etc., each with tens or even hundreds of items!

Let's say you want to specifically look for the Kel-Tec KSG. You type this and they give you 352 items (!) for "Kel-Tec KSG 12" and 1004 items (!!!) for "Kel-Tec KSG 12 Gauge Shotgun". The most discouraging part is that actually none of these is the actual KSG you were searching for and not even a Kel-Tec of any kind.

I really like Ellwood Epps. I bought most of my guns from them. I used to search for a gun on their website and then drive to Orillia to actually see it. Now this website blocks many customers to buy from them. Like six months ago they said they were going to correct/improve their search engine; nothing has been done up to now. Any chance for a change?

I have nothing against epps, nor would i hesitate to buy from them however I agree with the OP the searching of guns is painfull as all hell, I thought it was just me.

It varies I have seen. It is a complete pain to use and shortly after they introduced it I fired off an e-mail about it and never heard back. Hope they didn't pay somebody too much to create that mess. I used to enjoy sitting down and scrolling through the lists.

The old system was way better. I went on it everyday just to see what was new in stock but not anymore. If there is one piece that is of interest to me I'll wade through the nonsense but now I only go on it once a week or so. If they get in the odd piece I might buy I'll probably miss it with this new system.

Absolute $hit. Used to buy used guns here often. Now I don't even bother to look at it.
The designer of this "new and improved" site, must have gone out of their way, to f^ck-up this one so well!!!
Come on Epps, you must have had more than just me complaining about this problem.
Do something about it.... please!

Epps probably hired an Anti to set that up. I wonder what their sales are like since dumping the Old for the New so called improved?

If you are looking for one of the brands listed on the left, I find the search feature to be excellent. With three or four checkmarks, you can reduce your search to find a very tight group of what you are looking for....for instance, I was looking for a browning silver hunter 20 gauge the other day. Selected Browning, shotgun, semi auto, small shotgun and my two options popped up right away....total time searching - 3 seconds.

The quality of the search is directly related to the accuracy of the person who entered the data. I actually find the website easy to use, and much better than before. That being said, they could do with adding more filters and accurately entering the data.

NFG for the average person who just wants to browse the site, to see if something interests them.
Not "user friendly" at all!
I feel that EPPs is too busy to give a $hit.
Please prove me wrong, Epps

I browse it all the time as I am presently looking for a shotgun; I simply sort by date and filter shotguns. It's really, not that bad.

for me no image = no buy, as simple as this

Just send an email to photos@ellwoodepps.com with the item number. They usually get back to you same day and I've never had them not send me a photo of the angle or specific region on the firearm that I wanted to see.

At least they will e-mail good pics of up to 3 guns. They used to, anyways.
I think it would be too time consuming for Epps to image all their used guns.
I know what you mean though, no pics on E.E. and I'm not interested.

Not for me. I must admit I'm not the most computer litterate(part of the problem). But I'm not alone, for sure.
