Congratulations to the Winners and thanks to the organizers.
Lots of folks like to shoot the old guns but not all want to use Black powder. I would encourage anyone organizing an old gun sillhouette shoot to include a class for smokeless powder shooters using the same old guns instead of restricting things to Black powder only. There are few enough of us left and we should do everything possible to encourage the maximum number of shooters to come out and compete with their hi-walls, rolling blocks, Sharps, etc.. You can have two classes if you want, but let's all try and include other shooters as much as possible. I have shot many matches where both were allowed but seem to see a trend all too common in the shooting sports of excluding shooters for no really good reason other than a small difference in approach to our sport.
I'm not aiming this at the Peace County folks as I don't know what their policy is and I'm sure they ran an excellent match but I am using this as a note to sillhouette shooters, to encourage all match directors to consider how they can design matches to bring the largest number of shooters there.
I shot a mixed match on the weekend where all types were allowed and a great Black Powder shooter won it all-and we all had a good time.
My 2cents and a request for us all to think of this when we plan matches.
I have nothing against Black powder shooters and much admire those who do it, but I am just asking that we consider the long-term support of our shooting disciplines.
