hello, just wondering if any one has changed the connector lock & pin on there norinco m14s? if so anything i might need to no? it looks easy enough, but i no that can't be the case. i no that i could build the area up by the lock, but the stock i have a line on is a nm, so if possible i would rather change the lock then start messing with the bedding. witch is my next question. if my reciever doesn't just drop in, what will i have to do to make it fit? thank you fella's, i greatly appreciate any help.

Grasp the role-pin with a pair of linesman's pliers and ease it out.Once that is done, the lock will just slide out eazy peazy.After you have swapped out the old lock,tap a new roll-pin (or USGI pin )into the new lock with a small hammer and drift.
If the new RP is overly long,you may want to shorten it to GI spec's before reinstallation...

Actually it is far from that easy.
First off.......if you are going to bed a Norc 14 type.....you are best to leave the factory pin in.....it gives a better bedding job and easier also.
#2 - USGI Connector lock is meant to hold in place the Connector arm (Full Auto parts), unless you are using a USGI FG stock.....you do not need to change this item. The GI stock....oh yeah...and the Sage also (and most non bed style stocks for the US made 14 type), will leave a gap between the receiver and stock.....allowing the Norc pin to back out. When this happens the op-rod spring guide is not held in place and as soon as a mag is removed the spring guide will not allow the installation of the next mag. Installing a long GI pin is my choice instead of building up the stocks with whatever the fix of the day is. (ice cream stick, cardboard, screw, epoxy)
Removing the Norc pin is easy, but......the connector lock is one of those parts that the Chi-com builders made as a metric part.

The Norc pin is a smaller diameter than GI....so if you want GI length then you either bore out the receiver (not recommended) or turn the GI pin on a lathe......it can be done on a drill press, and if you are steady....I have done this with a cordless drill. The pin is about a $15 part, so if you f' it up it's better that f'ing a receiver.
In short......leave it alone unless you really know what can of worms you are playing with.

If you have an in with a machine shop (friend etc)just have them make you one and harden it.I did this when I installed my norinco in my JAE stock works great.Just have to check it everyonce in a while for wear to see if it got harden enough.
