I've had this set for a while but 43853 was a work in progress that I finally completed tonight. In 2015 I picked up 43852 at SOS and after posting it on The K98k Forum, another member posted a pic of 43853 that he had in his data collection and the search was on.

With the help of some good friends and some amazing data collectors, not only was I able to track down the owner of 43853 but also it's complete history. In the early 2000's it was brought into a local pawn shop of a K98k forum member as a "fresh attic find". He took pics of it but since it's a bolt m/m he wasn't interested in it and someone else bought it and stripped it down for it's valuable parts. It then showed up as a barreled receiver at an auction where another forum member bought it and poorly restored it. I was able to purchase it off him and since I had a complete set of pictures of it in it's original factory configuration (minus the m/m bolt of course) I set about restoring it to what it should be. Who knows what the bolt was like in it originally but it now has a byf45 no letter block bolt in it that is pretty close in serial.
Anyway, here they are for comparison.
