The mosin m91/30 on trade ex are a good price by the looks of things. I'm curious if anyone here has ordered one from there and wanted to know how the rifle was in terms of the overall condition. Looks like a dandy moose gun :). Any info would be great, thanks guys!

I ordered my M44 from there. I have no complaints about their service and would definitely deal with them again. It was wrapped up nice and snug so I was pleased with that :D It was advertised as very good/excellent and it was just that imo. Some discoloration on the stock and a few marks on the butt..mind you it was made in 1944, haha.

I think shipping is a flat $25

Awesome the m44 is another one I'm intersted in. A little off topic but the whole issue about the bayonet Being extended for it to group properly kinda turns me off the m44 but the shorter carbine wood be nicer in the bush, how ever if you guys tell me other wise than other I could get either one and be happy.

Honestly, each m44 has its own mind. There have been many debates and discussions about groupings for them.

BUT there is another option! Perfect length for the bush, and no bayonet. Take a look into the M38. Essentially an M44 made without the bayonet.

The m38's don't seem to be as plentiful. Correct me if I'm wrong, thanks alot for everyones input so far it's helpful. I know I want a mosin it's just which one.

My M44 that I got from Tradex shoots fine without the bayonet extended. I have a M91/30 that I picked up from Reliable Gun that shoots way high and to the right without the bayo attached. When I have the "pigsticker" on, it shoots dimesized groups....Tradex are an excellent company to do business with-very quick and secure delivery, I highly recommend them!

I have bought both the M91/30 and M44 from Trade-ex. They are really great guys to deal with and if you have any special requests they are more then happy to oblige you if they can. The M44 was a refurb with lots of forced matched parts. The M91/30 was nearly completely matched beside the baynoet and butt plate.

Hey, Dime!

They're only Moisin-Nagants.

They're cheap.

Get one of each!

MUCH more fun!

91, 91 Dragoon, 91 Kazakskiya Vintovka, 91/08, 1907 Carbine, 91/30, M-38, M-44, each of previous from Tula, from Izhevsk, from Sestroryetsk, get a Factory 11, a Finn 91, Finn Dragoon, Finn Kazak, Finn 91/08, Finn 1907, Finn 91/30, Finn 38, Finn 44 (all of these Finns from each of the Russian plants, mind you!), Finn 24, Finn 27, Finn 28...... you can see where this is heading, right?

A whole BASEMENT-FULL!!! You can have more than the TSAR if you do it right!

It might be sheer insanity, but it's FUN!

Yeah, the groupings are different without the bayonet extended.. I think it has something to do with barrel harmonics. I haven't tried shooting mine without it extended, I'm afraid the point will jam my fingers lol. It's also quite heavy (when I compare it to my sporter Enfield.)

I don't think I can link it but P&S has M38's in stock, I believe.. but the bayonet just has the coolness factor LOL. You will be the biggest bad ass in the forest :D

With shipping and tax I think mine came to $172.. the 91/30 would haven been around $200

Pretty much all my parts were forced matched

Oh, the bolt also gets REALLY sticky after firing a few rounds.. there are some good videos on how to fix that (in particular a guy named IraqVeteran or something like that on youtube)

John from Marstar also said 7.62x54r is coming in around August :D

You're right Dime, the M38s aren't quite as plentiful, but they are definitely out there. For moose, that would definitely be my recommendation!

P$S doesn't have any any more I bought the last one he had 2 weeks ago. your best bet for a M38 now would be the EE.

Never had a problem buying from Anthony. Great service and great guy's. As for ammo John from Marstar has some that just got aproved but if your in a rush check the EE or PM me.

Would you guys really hunt with a Mosin action? Don't get me wrong, they cycle and feed great, and will likely do that regardless of rain, snow, ice, mud...but that safety is awful. I guess it depends on the style of hunting you do. For me, getting the safety on and off quickly and quietly is really important.

Not saying you can't do it, just not my first choice....now wacking a deer with a Garand....that was kind of fun. Pity only one came out, would have loved to have shot it till the ping :D
