Consolidating powder into larger jugs?

I kinda goofed when placing a back order on some Titegroup and HP38 through Cabelas, and wound up with more than I had intended. Not complaining, just hate having all the 1lb bottles to deal with. Any harm in consolidating them into larger F Type HDPE jugs? They are a lot easier to store than the round bottles.

Was looking at these ones:

...and no, I don't mean mixing the Titegroup and HP38 together...silly people... :p

As long as they're clean and dry containers and the powders you're consolidating are from the same lot/batch I don't see a problem.

Nope, no problem. If they have the same lot number, they literally come from the same container. If they have different lot#, shake well.

You won't find any significant lot to lot variation between two lots produced within a reasonable time frame. Mix away!

Only reason I wouldn't is that resale value will drop, that is if there is any possibility you won't use it.

I decant powder from the 60-pound drums into 1-gallon jugs. I like the window washer fluid jugs. They hold about 8 lbs.

Then I decant pistol powders into 1 or 2-pound containers.

I also do the opposite. When I have odd cans of a powder ( I once had 7 different versions of 4895) I dump them all into one container, shake, and label it as a fresh lot of powder.

I take different lots of powder with the same designation and blend them together for one large consistent lot on a regular basis.

I don't like to use milk jugs or similar jugs such as the window washer fluid types.

My reason for this has nothing to do with the jugs causing any deterioration of the powder. I just feel they are to lightly constructed and they do tend to deteriorate with time. I've actually had a couple of them break from becoming brittle.

I use laundry soap jugs. They only hold around 5 pounds of powder but won't deteriorate. I have a couple that are close to 20 years old and they are still stable and well sealed.

I can fully understand Ganderite using the milk/window washer jugs. He goes through a lot more powder than I do and the jugs he uses can be picked up from the recycling depots. But the same can be said for the laundry soap jugs. I prefer black but red seems to work just as well for blocking UV light.

Most of the new laundry jugs have very handy pouring spouts as well.

I buy powder anytime and anywhere it's cheap. That means a lot of smaller quantities, I typically build a "batch", blend it all then use it for a large run of ammo. No issues so far.
