As the thread says, I'm looking to get one comprehensive, model-by-model list of twist rates for .223 bolt guns - particularly varmint and target varieties. I'll be adding as I do the research, feel free to throw in the ones you know. I don't know the names and models of the more boutique makers, feel free to throw them in.

Browning
-A-Bolt Varmint Stalker/SSA Varmint = 1/12

CZ
-527 Varmint Kevlar = 1/9
-527 Varmint Laminated = 1/12
-527 Varmint = 1/12

Remington
-700 SPS Varmint = 1/12
-700 VLS = 1/12
-700 LF SF/VS/VS SF II = 1/12
-700 XCR Rangemaster = 1/12
-700 XCR Tactical = 1/9
-700 Police = 1/9
-700 LTR = 1/9

Ruger
-Target Grey Target (M77 Mark II) = 1/12

Savage
-12 Series are all 1/9 except
-LRPV in 1/7 or 1/9

Sako
-75 Varmint/Varmint LS = 1/8

Tikka
-T3 Varmint, Varmint Stainless, Super Varmint = 1/8

Weatherby/Vanguard
-Varmint Special = 1/12
-Mark V SVM = 1/12

Great thread for reference;
Can anyone make a suggestion/starting point for bullet weight in a rifle with 1:9 twist (a Savage Model 12 Varmint in .223)
Thanks,
Steve

HPBTs from Sierra and Hornady up to 69 gr should work ok. A lot of people with Savages say the 75 gr AMAX works great for them, and I have a friend with a 1:9 Remington that says the 77 gr Sierra HPBT (MatchKings) work great for him. So try heavier bullets if you're aiming for longer distances.
