Hello Gents,

Was looking into loading for the 45-70 Gov't and found Mr. Mitchell's book/manual mentioned:

Supreme Handloads for the advanced handloader of the 45-70 Govt.

While there was a address listed with the thread, there wasn't much else. I tried a internet search for him but came to a dead end with 10 wrong numbers.

I'd like to buy a copy of his book but how? Just send 20$ to the address listed? Would that cover S&H in Canada?

Any ideas folks?

I've got that info from the previous thread but was wondering if he was still at the same address or selling the book for more than 20 dollars (for S&H).
 
I think that would cover it, Bob's a good guy, and has done more research on heavy loads in the .45/70 and the .458 Win.Mag. then anyone i know of. I can probably speak for Bob on one thing though.....with all those calibers being factory loaded to 44,000PSI in the Marlin and other guns, there is absolutely no reason why the 45/70 cannot be loaded to near those same levels. The ammo companies don't want a law suit from someone who uses heavy loads in an old Trapdoor or some such, so they don't make 'em, but you can.
Bob favours heavy, long bullets, and backs it up with plenty of loads and data......A great read that anyone with a modern 45/70 should have!!
 
pageophile - Bob's a good friend of mine and hunting buddy. We're going north together in a month after moose if plans work out and we have the $$$ necessary. I bet he brings along a stiff loaded 45cal - although lately he's been working with a new 300 WinMag.

I'll talk to him tonight and ask how best for you to get his manual. I'll get back to you.

William's Arms in Port Perry often had a copy or two for sale at one time.
