Contender barrel, what is it worth?

Here is the gun, it's Contender Super 14 in 30-30 cal.

This gun is super accurate, can shoot 1/2 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards, if you are able to hold it steady :)

I aquired the 44 magnum barrel (bottom in picture) this weekend, and I am just wondering if I paid too much, or if I got an OK deal.

Now if there would be a barrel in 223.....

Bet that's a handful in .30-30! (y)

I have the rifle version of that action. Set up in .280 Rem. But have barrels in .270 & .30-06 as well.

I'd love to have a rifle length barrel [20" or longer] for my frame set up in .30-30 +/or even .44 Mag. Just for fun!

Yours is the Encore, which has a beefier action.

The 30-30 handles well enough,
once I owned (but never fired) a barrel in 45-70, that's a handfull.

The 30-30 in a pistol starts to get interesting. I have a 375 Winchester that’s definitely fun. I made the mistake once of firing 4 rounds of 45-70 out of a Contender pistol with Herrett grips. Rubber grips probably would have helped reduce recoil.
Your is a stainless barrel which usually go for more that blued. And if anyone is interested Ron at Nine35 has Contender and Encore barrels available. I’ve bought two from him so far, 300 Whisper and 6.8 SPC. Located in Ontario. Barrels are addictive, 16 so far. My carbine with the 300 Whisper 16.25 barrel. Stocks I made. Didn’t what came with it. Bushnell Nitro 4-16 x44.

I think 400 would be a reasonable price these days. I still have Contender, in 7mm TCU. This is my third, and I've had barrels in 22 LR, 357 Max, 357 Herrett, 30-30, 7mm Int-R, 41 mag, 44 mag, hmm, 30 Herrett, 45-70. Think that's it. - dan

I guess I didn't do too bad then.

I would love to find on in 223 Rem.

35 grains of 748 with a 150 grain spire point was my 3030 ten inch barrel TC silhouette load.

Do not use spire point in lever action!

The vast majority used 7 tcu in production class. 223 case necked up to 7mm.

44 mag Barrel price is good. You can watch the bullet in it's trajectory with a spotting scope.

Very slow going out to 200 meters for the rams.
