Controlled Deer Hunt Reminder Ont.

a couple quick questions about deer hunting in ontario, is the only way to get tags through the antlerless and controlled draws? or can you purchase a certain number of tags the same way as a small game licence? if so how many are you able to get? if there are extra tags for your area how can someone buy them who didnt enter the draw? how do you know if there are any? and how do you buy them.

sorry for the uber noob questions but i have never been but an seriously interested. if it matters im only interested in the archery only for sw ontario particularly wmu's 94a and b

lol i read the regs,, both the hard copy and the e copy but couldnt find it in there all i found was how to apply for the tags. unless i missed something or misunderstood a section but ill re read it tonight for giggles :) thanks

Eric

You buy a tag.
It is good ONLY for antlered deer.
Further applications have to be filled out for antlerless.
"shotgun" season a totally different animal.
License in this area only good for bow for antlered deer. Further application need for antlerless.
Shotgun hunt is application needed to hunt either antlered or antlerless.

You may only fill one tag in any of the above situations unless more tags are offered. Then there is usually special applications for those, area specific.

your original tag is good for hunting antlered deer anywhere in ontario, although some places you are restricted in what type of firearm you may use.
Hope this helps

so let me get this straight, i can walk into walmart or somewhere that sells licences, buy a tag for antlered deer without entering a draw but if i want to hunt antlerless i have to enter the draw? if so then what is all that about the controled hunt draw? i will be using a bow

Yes.

but if i want to hunt antlerless i have to enter the draw?

Yes. But the dead line for antlerless draw was July 31, so you are SOL.

I had a quick look at the regs, and I believe you are in WMU 94, or that is where you want to hunt, there is no Controlled Hunt, Other than a 1 day affair in WMU 94B which is Shotgun and Muzzle Loader "ONLY"

You still have a chance to get an additional deer seal for WMU 94A&B for the Archery Only season, by calling 1-800-288-1155, have your credit card and Outdoors card handy when you call.

Are you confused yet:runaway:

Edited to add
"Controlled hunt" means a control of hunter numbers, not how many deer are "Controlled", although you may be able to apply for an additional seal for the "Controlled Hunt" Your original "Seal" is still used for the Controlled Hunt, but I digress, don't get me started on "Party Hunting", in the "Controlled Hunt" with additional "Seals":runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway:

Oh and you CAN NOT HUNT during any of the GUN seasons if you wish to bow hunt.

Unless there are NO gun seasons in the area.
Like area 88
