I made the trek home through that wicked snowstorm last Thursday to hunt the last couple days of the shotgun hunt back home (near Chatham Ont). The day started off slow with us driving 3 bushes with no deer to be seen. The next bush proved to hold some deer as 2 came running out and stopped in the field looking at the 2 blockers (my uncle and myself) since the wind was blowing right at them. I shot first and knocked one down the other deer was hit and got back into the bush where it met with a driver and down she went too.
Now with only one tag left we set out to do hopefully one last drive for the year. I was walking the outside edge of the bush slightly ahead of the drivers when I caught movement breaking out towards me. I got ready and fired when the deer entered the field. He shook real hard but I never did hit him again..by this time Im out of ammo watching him out in the field standing there looking back. I hopped in a truck and seen him get across a road and into another bush while 2 other guys looked for blood. He walked into the bush so we knew he was hit and would go lay down. A few conversations back and forth on the radios we all decided that we would let him be for half hour. A few of us were going to spand out and look for the deer...he made it 25 yards in the bush and he was down and out!
That made #8 for the week and tags full! He was also the first buck I shot that had a rack.
