Conversion-Antique status?

Do I read the law right, that if one converts a pre 1898 obselete cal to, say a .38 or .45, it no longer is considered "Antique"?
Sorry, some of the rules are a lil fuzzy to me.

Have you seen the list of calibres related to antique status? Conversion to one of those calibres would certainly cancel antique status.

On the other hand, you can convert an antique to use cartridges NOT on the list.
