Conversion barrel question

I'm not sure whether anyone can help me answer this question, but no one in the handgun forum even attempted to help me with an answer or response. So I hope someone here can help.

Here is my question:

What is the difference between a 9mm conversion barrel for a Glock 22 versus just dropping in a Glock 17 barrel into the Glock 22. I am curious as to what the difference in the barrel itself is.

The 17 barrel in a 22 will not extract reliably.
the 40 has a larger breach face.
IIRC the conversion barrel slightly offsets the chamber so the extractor will grab the 9.
I'm not sure about the length of the barrel lock ( ejection port) , the 9 could be shorter?( I'm guessing on this one)
