Is it possible to rebarrel Tikka T3 with a custom barrel chambered for the 6mm Norma BR cartridge? I would prefer not to go the Savage/Stevens route as I have a fancy aftermarket stock that I purchased from the UK and would like to use that for this project. Is this feasible? Who could do this type of work? Any idea of cost? Rifle would be used for informal target shooting at 100 to 500 yards (limit of local range).

Cost of a new barrel / chambering will be in the $700.00 range. Feeding may be an issue, but you could check by trying to feed a 6BR round through your magazine to see if will feed OK. I think the Tikka has a center feed mag, so it may be OK, but the lips may need some modification. I have done the magazine conversion for a Rem 700 and it works fine.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not concerned about the magazine as I always single feed anyway. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith?

i was going to say that the tikka single stack magazines feed the BR cases fine even with the long Berger VLD bullets. Just use a bit more neck tension.

Henry Rempel is a good gunsmith. know him well. you need to have a gun with a bolt for a 308 type boltface .473 as someone said here. alberta has a couple of good barrel makers too. karl schmit and ron smith. henry should be able to get them but they just need to be a bit narrower at the action than a remington which is what most rebarrels go towards. that 6br is a good little round.
