Converting .308win to 6.5mm

I have heard a lot about how people are rebarreling .308win's down to 6.5mm bolt rifles. I am aware of the better ballistic values, and of the less recoil and weight.

My question is, would one be able to rebarrel a semi auto action such as an M14. My concern is, would the port pressures be way out of whack changing from .308win to 6.5mm

I assume you mean a 260 (6.5-08). IT should work ok, you may have to fine tune the gas regulation a bit. - dan

"...would one be able to rebarrel a semi-auto action..." Anything is possible with enough time and money. In this case, a lot of money. You'd have to find a barrel. Or go completely nut$ and have one made. The gas hole would have to be just the right size too.

Buy an unturned blank, turn and mill to fit, drill the gas holes. A LOT of work, but certainly do-able. - dan
