Hey Guys,

I'm not even sure if I want to do this but if I do decided to do it, is it even possible? I have a Caspian Arms .38 Super single stack. Other than a barrel, maybe a new comp and possibly mags, is there anything else that I would need to do to the gun? Is it even worth it just to save money on brass?

Thanks,
Trevor

You may need a new ejector.

Is it worth it? If you were starting from scratch I'd say yes.

If you had a need to replace the barrel and comp, I'd say yes.

If the gun works fine as is, the cost of the parts and fitting would buy a lot of .38 super brass.

Hi,
If the need to switch is only Ammo cost, then maybe I would consider reloading...!? I reload the for my 38, and cost should be around the same. (Same bullet, same primers, a little more powder, and Brass)

my 2 Cents,

Back in the days I was shooting IPSC, I was one of the "pioneers" in Canada shooting 9 mm major. Not a bright idea in retrospect but never blew up a gun either. There's no need to change anything else other than the barrel! The .38 Super extractor will work fine with the 9 mm and so will the comp. You can also use the same mags IF you seat the bullets longer than the 1.169" max for the 9 mm. In effect, you duplicate .38 Super loads with the tapered and stronger 9 mm case. This way the pressures also remain more or less in the same ballpark as the Super. I did the same with the 9x21mm but that's another story. My own feeling is to stick with the .38 Super if only the cost of the brass is the issue here.
