Converting a Glock 23 to 9mm

Yes, technically a G19 barrel will work, however the OD of the barrel is smaller than that of a G23 so there will be slight barrel slop in the slide which will cause premature barrel/slide ware and possibly feed issues. Also the ejector is different, some say this causes ejection issues but i have yet to experience that.

There are aftermarket barrels for the G23 in 9mm that will have the proper OD

No a G17 barrel will not work, as the locking lugs are different dimensions

I’m not positive but if it’s anything like the G22 to 9mm conversion, you’ll need a thicker diameter 9mm barrel for the bushing end of the slide of the 23? Storm Lake and Lone Wolf make them for the G22.

You’ll likely end up with a Pinocchio barrel with or without thread, as I don’t think you can source a prohib barrel anymore?

OK. Thanks.

I will buy a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel.

This is what you need. It will be a G23 to G19 conversion barrel but will be the pinocchio restricted barrel. Some say the G23 mags will work with the 9mm but I would use some G19 or G17 mags myself to be 100% reliable. IMO I've tried 9mm in my G22 mags with my G17's and had some issues which I assume could be the same with 9mm in the G23 mags as well.

you need a conversion barrel like this and a g19 mag and maybe an ejector too(the ejector on a g19 gen 3 is curved but a .40 is straight)

the hole in the slide is larger on a g23 and also the chamber(breech block) is beefier,so if you use a g19 barrel it will not fill the slide hole
completely and the breech will not fit the slide properly.

p.s. this is a U.S. g23 with a lone wolf U.S. length barrel so you would indeed need the longer conversion barrel.
