Converting a prohib....

This is my father's S&W model 15 Combat Master Piece. He's had it forever and it's in mint condition. I would like to take it off his hands but it's a prohib (4"bbl) and I'm not 12(6).

I was wondering, if I get a gunsmith to put on a 4.25" bbl and reverify the HG
would I be able to legally own & shoot it.

Yes. If you can find a barrel. Maybe get a six inch one and get it cut down to 106mm.

Thanks, prproulx....I actually started the thread you mentioned.
ie. looking to shorten my 686 6"bbl to 4.25" and lengthening the 15 to 4.25".
Would be nice to find a full lugged blued bbl so both HG's will "match" once they're at 4.25" (one stainless, one blued).

I have a 6" barrel from a 586. Would this work on the model 15?
