Hi Guys;
youtube has several videos of guy's modifying regular SKS's so that it will accept a AK mag.
It appears to be bum easy and affordable. 2 Questions: Legal to mod bolt and magwell?. Will the CZ mag work in this application?.
Thanks

Yes, legal so long as the ak mag is pinned to 5. As for modifying it to take the Czech mags, why? Why not convert it to take the LAR pistol mags & then you have a legal 10 round SKS. There is a thread here somewhere where one of the members did exactly that, and it worked!

Cheers
Jay

You got 3 questions.

1. No , its not easy , even if you are good with metal work , most likely to screw up your first. At the end you're better off buying a real "D" .

2. Yes , its legal to mod bolt and magwell.

3. Spend enuff time and money , yes, the VZ mag will work . I have mod a AK mag to a VZ so it should work when reversed.

the ak magwell takes some fitting it's not the hardest thing to do it's not super easy.

To make it take another firearms magazine like an XCR takes way more work as you have to cut allot of metal to make it fit which weakens it.

You can't mod the magazine just the gun remember that. If you mod the magazine it has to be pinned if you don't then it doesn't.
