Would like a non-restricted rifle chambered in a 223 Remington.
Checked out the Remington model 7615 but is is a pump. I have two options.
Fist to see if its possible to convert the bolt of a 7400 to accept the 223 and have a match barrel put on or to buy a HK630 already chambered for this round. Anyone have any ideas?

The Remington bolt has a lot of lugs to get locked up uniformly. If they have various contact surface pressures, the accuracy won't be there. That is one consideration. The other how everyone I've talked to, says it is a prize-winning Chinese puzzle to disassemble.

"...have a match barrel put on..." I wouldn't do that to a 7600. Assuming you could even find a match grade barrel for one.
"...Would like a non-restricted rifle chambered in a 223 Remington..." There are lots of good bolt action rifles chambered in .223. Every manufacturer makes at least one in either a varmint model or target model. Have a look at the Rem 700 SPS Varmint or any of the Savage model 12's.

I do not know if a pump action bolthead will fit a semi.
These Remington rifles can be rebarrelled. The barrel extension threads to the barrel. More complicated than rebarrelling a bolt action rifle. The gas block on the semi is permanently attached to the barrel. I suppose one could be fitted to a replacement barrel. A match grade barrel would be a custom one off. While anything is possible, I suspect that the time, effort and cost that would be required to produce a successful conversion would be prohibitive.

I know of One person who changed a 7600. He changed it from a 30/06 to a 338/06. He was a gunsmith and it did work good when he was done. Ask him if he would do one again for himself or a customer and the list of bad words that came out of that mans mouth, still haven't re-entered the atmosphere. In other words its a whole lot of trouble for what you get.
