Having a hard time to chose between the 2. I have a remington 700, .308 and not sure which way I should go. Right now the action is sitting in a choate tactical stock. Should I go with a detachable magazine system or should I go with an MDT stock complete. The conversion kits are more or less 300$ and the MDT is 400$. I had the chance to shoot a savage with the MDT at the june clinic with Tactical teacher. I liked it, but also like the feel and weight of my choate.

Now I tried to find a detachable magazine system that would be a real drop in. I didn't find anything. If somebody knows of one, please share. Is there any remington rifle that comes with a DBM from factory?

Tks

The only true drop-in for a 700 stock that I know of is from PTG. I ordered one in June and when I still hadn't received it in September (was originally told 2-3 weeks), I cancelled the order. Lo and behold it showed up days later. I had at that point sourced a Stiller from the EE though so I refused the PTG and eventually got my money back by disputing it with Visa. PTG make great stuff but are a huge pain in the ass to deal with. You can order direct from them, they can ship it to you as it's Itar exempt but you literally need to call them every day if you have any hope of it showing up. You could get a Stiller, like I did, that requires a bit of relieving in the mag well to fit (but not the extensive work that say a Badger M5 does) and possibly using the pillars they provide to get the mag to seat properly, depending on how your rifle currently sits(distance from top of bottom metal to bottom of receiver). The Stiller lets you use any AICS mag though and the PTG only uses one very specific AI mag that you can get through them and is only a 5 rounder. The MDTs are a good option but don't forget you need to add in the cost of a pistol grip, buffer tube and stock.
