So I bought a 22" barrel M305 with a few extras. I really like it once I figured out why everyone on here says to get good scope rings for the M14.

I really wanted a shorty CQB style rifle, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got at the time with the CASM mount and VLTOR stock with the long barrel.

My question now is what is the smartest way to go to get a shorty.

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, so what should I do to get a short barreled M14, or if I should even bother

Get a gunsmith to shorten the barrel for me?

Or

Buy a new barrel like this http://www.armtac.com/product/lrb-barrel-std/

I'm not looking to spend a fortune, and I assume that either way will require major work from a gunsmith... but I want to know what my options are!!!

Just buy a shorty rifle and swap parts ... Then if you don't want to keep both rifles sell the 22" in the stock that comes with the shorty this way you won't have to send your rifle out to get worked on

Or find someone who wants a 22" but has a shorty.

I'd rather have a 22" than the one i'm picking up, but beggars can't be choosers.

If you live somewhere near me, maybe we could work out some kind of switch.
