For all the APC223 owners out there, I’m so on the fence with this one. It would be a no brainer if it was $1K cheaper.

Is it worth the price tag? The newer “pro” version looks very appealing to me. Would love to hear some range reports or see some pictures of the Canadian versions. I can only watch the Garand Thumb video so many times

I love mine.
The extra k is worth owning something that won't have any issues and will punch very close holes together on paper.

What does it weigh with the 18.7”barrel? Do you have the PRO model?

No, I don't have the Pro version. But I do have the Canadian barrel. She ain't light but you get used to it. I don't have a scale to weigh it unfortunately.

Don’t buy one. I had nothing but problems with my gen 1 had to send it back and still didn’t run well after, Knew someone that had to send two back. And literally met a dude at the range with a new gen one (gen 2 pro? The one with removable pistol grip and folding CH) that let me try out his, which on my very first shot, double feed.

They don't sell gen 1 anymore. Gen 2 is my most reliable carbine.

That’s good they don’t. But from what I saw from last week, it still has alot of issues. Believe me I want to love the APC. I think it looks awesome and is a very soft shooting gun when running .223 but running either .223 or 5.56 had its own issues. The owner of the gen 2 I shot told me he had roughly the same break in mine did when the problems arose for me, And low and behold they started for him as well. 1st round double feeds using the same ammo I was running in my acr through both his mags and mine.

Opening his gun I noticed the same soft hammer face that both my original and replacement trigger groups had which the firing pin was causing to divot, and it was still over gassed with 5.56 though not as bad as mine was. Mine would throw brass into the front edge of the ejection port, usually just missing stove piping but sometime back into the gun.

I could go on but of the people I’ve talked to that own them 4 out of 6 have had issues. and I understand that it’s a self selecting bias that the ones experiencing issues would be more inclined to reach out to me knowing the problems I had. But this is my honest opinion of the APC, I wouldn’t recommend getting one. It’s too expensive for pretty dicey quality.

it works with elftmann AR triggers. youtube has video. old version works perfectly, new version require some modification due to changes on the adjust screw, too long. you can remove the screw for the lightest trigger pull, or you need to find a shorter screw from hardware store.
my gen1 10.4 short version doesn't have double feed issue, but yes the brass hit front edge of the ejection port sometime and create dings. other than that works fine with federal 223 ammo.

Very timely thread. I am considering this to be my first gun bought in 2022 (I know, late bloomer this year) - I will watch this thread closely...

Yeah, if the price tag was a wee bit cheaper, I probably would have had one by now. My LGS manager absolutely raves about this gun, moreso than any other gun in its class, past and present.

The 18.7" version weighs 8lbs dry ( no muzzle device, no mag, no back-up sights). A bit front heavy with the factory Skeleton stock.

With the ACR stock and adapter it is 8lbs 7oz. But the weight is moved to the center of the rifle so makes it more balanced.

The action is butter smooth and it is an MOA rifle with good ammo.

Only "downside" is the reciprocating charging handle. The US Pro version fixes it but we don't know yet if that will come up to Canada.

I suppose you can wait for the CZ Bren 2 NR version that's supposed to come out Sept/Oct this year, according to the distributor. The Bren is probably going to be around 1lb lighter (compared to ACR with the ACR stock) and $1k cheaper.

On the rdsc website they mention that the newer models coming in are the ones with removable pistol grips. I assumed they were the new generation with non-reciprocating charge handle?

No. The removable pistol grip version came in earlier this year. Along with 1/2x28 threading instead of M15.

The "Pro" version with dual non-reciprocating charging handle also has a few other changes: 'more' free floated barrel (all others have the barrel very barely touching the handguard), a new stock that looks very ACR stock esque, a completely different bolt carrier to work with the new non-reciprocating charging handles.

This is the version just before the removable grip version. Everything else is the same (mlok handguard, folding charging handle, 1/2x28 barrel threading). With the ACR stock and adapter it is much better balanced. Personally I don't care much for the removable grip option as it just makes everything look even more AR. I am, however, interested in the non-reciprocating charging handle and the supposedly lighter weight of the "Pro" version.

It seems like Wolverine brought in whatever B&T was making for Canada so some of these rifles have differences of 1 feature. The sample I have access to shows M15 thread engraving on the barrel, but it is actually threaded for 1/2x28! Lol
