HI,

Convince me why I should spend $ 3000 and buy a 308 AR, I already have a 223.

Since you can only shoot paper.

Thanks

Same reason you shoulda bought one in 22lr I guess. Personal preference? Bragging rights? Multiple guns in your safe also using 308? To have something different? In case they start making paper 5cm thick and you want to make sure you can penetrate it, lol. All good reasons IMO.

1. Only if it has an 18.5" barrel or longer and 2. Only in Fantasyland. ;)
If it were me, I'd sooner drop $3k towards a non-restricted Desert Arms Tactical or get a XCR-M or Keltec RFB and use the difference for any optics.

I'm fairly new around here, but I still felt the need to quote you saying you would buy an xcr :)

For the simple fact that it can easily be converted to different caliber, the Desert Tactical Arms SRS would be my first choice as well.

How about that the AR was originally designed for .308? My next rifle is going to be a .308 AR.

I've come to realize that for me, choosing a NR .308 black rifle means choosing a rifle that is inferior to the AR when I only shoot at a range anyways. Depends on where you shoot I guess, but I'm leaning hard towards the LMT LM8, when the time comes.

That's really unfortunate that you don't have access to private or crown land to shoot !!

I've got a pile of $$ ready to be spent on the day that The Shooting Edge announces that they have received the NR status / FTR number for the Swiss SAPR and that its ready for sale

It all comes down to the same argument for anything expensive...because you can and you want it. Otherwise, everything would just be the cheapest thing you can find.

Buy a Swiss Arms as Smak says. It is AWESOME.

Or wait for the SAPR, if ever.

OOOOORRRRR if you want a 308 AR, nut up and buy an SR-25 like a real man. :stirthepot2:

It'll happen for the SAPR. Whether or not it'll be a range queen is the question :bangHead:

Won't be MY range queen though I can ga-ran-tee you that.

There's also the yet-to-be-classified ATRS .308 semi-auto project. But seeing as the SAPR has been with the RCMP's lab for what 2 years now, it would be almost safe to say that we'll get news on it the SAPR before.
