Cooey 22 Firing Pin Worn?

I got my great grandfathers cooey 22 has a pass-it-down-the-line and when my uncle and I were out firing it about one in four shots would not fire.

We took it all apart and we cleaned and oiled everything. This seemed to help the spring strength. But now one in 6 or 7 would not fire.

Could someone tell me if the firing pin is supposed to have one edge rounded over, or is it one nice cylinder?

I have the same problem with my Browning 22, its probably 20-30 years old.
I was told its the firing pin because it was dry fired(not by me) too many times.
im taking it to a gunsmith this week

I had one that had the same problem, what i did was took the bolt out, turned the bolt handle until the firing pin was fully extended. You'll probably notice the firing bin is very very broad, file it down on the sides a bit the make it more narrow. You don't need to take off much material.

took mine in today, got no confirmation on what excactly is wrong but ill bump this topic when he calls me to come pick it up.

Thanks, I think I get what you're saying. Could you elaberate on the specifics of what you did please.

Are you saying the pin might be "Mushroomed" over on the top?
