Had a Cooey 37A gifted to me .The forend spacer is plastic and shattered......no problem I had a steel spare ,now for the fun stuff ...the barrel will not come off like it should? Never seen this before on a Cooey SS ? The lever pushed over breaks open and barrel drops as it should but will not come free from the receiver ? History of the previous treatment of the firearm unknown although externally it appears VG condition .Any ideas?I don't want to try and ham hand it with force .

The pin through the ejector trip might have come loose and shifted to one side or the other. That can be enough to prevent barrel removal.
If that is the case, you'll have to get creative with thin tools to get at the pin while the barrel is still in the frame.

That was the culprit........I think it's the extractor sear retaining pin[the big one in the middle of the two smaller pins ].It appears to be too long and was catching on the receiver frame.Bent a little so I may try to straighten it and drive it partially out to one side then shorten it a hair. Then drift it back in place.

Working fine now......should a guy center punch the ends? Need to fine fit the replacement steel spacer for the forend. It's close but not perfect followed by some touch up blue.

You will certainly want to prevent that pin from moving unintentionally again. A tiny dab of JB Weld on the pin (on both sides of the ejector sear) will stop it from moving yet can be removed in future if required.

Hardened or not it's factory original. I may center punch the barrel lug on either side where it goes through.
