Not a bit surprised by the accuracy of that old Cooey. My dad gave me a Winchester M1902 when I was not yet 8.
I would really like to know how many rounds that rifle has seen. However, it was quite accurate, but of course, I had
younger eyes in the day as well, so open sights were more "do-able"
In my shooting circle were two other guys, both had Cooey 39 SS rifles. They shot right with that Winchester of mine,
and over the years we pulled off some very spectacular shots. I eventually was given my dad's M 68 Winchester, which
I still have. Longer sight radius and aperture sights made it deadlier than the others, but those Cooeys were impressive
I still remember the "Half-moon" Firing pin impressions they made. Very reliable and accurate rifles, those old Cooeys.
