I'm curious if there is a difference between the barrel to receiver attachment on Cooey Model 60's?

I took one apart, and it had a pin that was accessible from either side, so it could be hammered out. I have another 60 apart and the pin seems to be open to one end only.

Is this a normal thing, maybe dependent on year of manufacture? Does this pin need to be drilled out or am I just seeing this all wrong?

Have a look at the pictures, the pin is exposed on one end, but looks as if it's in a blind hole. Either that, or it was ground flush on the opposing end and then the whole assembly was blued afterwards.

It's polished over, I can see a very faint oval

Nope, this sucker was in a blind hole. I drilled it out and it was at such an angle that if it were a hole through the receiver on the other end, it would probably have been visible with the stock on.

Thanks for the reply anyways.

Would have been easier if it was a through hole though. I'm still curious if this is a normal thing based on something like production year or if it's an anomaly as far as Cooeys go.

Did you make it a through hole for next time?

Nope. It was at too much of an angle and would have been visible when the stock was attached. Considering I put the barrel back into the receiver after bluing, the pin would have been absolutely visible as it wouldn't be ground flush and blued with the receiver.
