Cooey 600 barrel shortening

Has anyone shortened a barrel on a Cooey 600? Will this completely destroy the accuracy? It has a 24" now I want to shorten it to 18.5". Thanks for any input.

I did that 25 year's ago with 3 of'em for rabbit hunting in brush and never had a problem with them.
I alway's carried them barrel down since they alway's wanted to go that way anyway's.
I used a 1in piece is webbing looped around the mag tube between it and the barrel and a sling swivel on the butt.
