Cooey 600 cycling/ejection problem

Had the gun out for the first time, having some trouble with it.

After a shot, the shell rarely ejects all the way out. Plus, the next bullet doesn't line up with the chamber properly (always sort of angled down, below the chamber). Either have to keep playing w/ the bolt to get it to line up or use something to actually push it up, sort of a pain in the ass.

What can I do about this? Replace the mag tube and the attached piece of metal that advances the next bullet upwards or....?

Thanks in advance

The bolt face is curved, and as you pull back on the bolt the slides up and aligns with the chamber. Trouble is with these is that hard crud gets built up beneath the extractor "claws" and caused feed issues with the case rim. Remove the bolt and give it a good but careful clean in this area with a small pick, then lightly oil.

Let me know how you get on.

1shot should be on the one on this one.
Also look to make sure the the bar that feeds the round into the extractor claw is moving as well.

OLD post, but just took the gun out the other day after a good clean.

There was quite a bit of crud in there, but it didn't improve it much after the clean. The bullet doesn't seem to be moving high enough on the bolt face.

Any other ideas?

41 years ago I did buy my first gun, a Cooey 600 and I still have it. Great little gun. First, did you clean the feeding bar rod? If it's dirty it won't reliably push with enough pressure the bullets that are used has a feeding/pushing ejector just before/after been taken by the v-shaped dual extractor. Try to clean the inside with Outers Crud Cutter in spray. Has the gun has been stored loa... humm!... with the spring compressed for a long time ? It might have hurt the spring...

If you have had the bolt out and have then replaced it and tightened it into place against the mag tube, it maybe out of position a bit. I have had that problem and it has only been fixed by slacking of the screw that holds it in place and moving it into it's original position before tightening again. Also there is piece of metal that assists with kicking the shells up that is basically thin metal that can get slightly bent and it is just a mater of straightening it up.

It seemed to work fine before I had the bolt out for cleaning, so maybe it's a positioning thing.

I just tried readjusting it but it still isn't working. The shell isn't coming high enough on the face of the bolt to feed straight into the chamber. I tried changing how tight/loose the "claws" are but it doesn't seem to be working. The little metal piece that kicks the bullet up is coming as high as it can.

Anything else I can adjust here?
