I'd love to have a peep sight for my Cooey 600. It's a fun accurate little rifle but I'm not in love with the sights. I am curious if there is anything currently being made that might be made to fit? Or if anyone has any creative ideas?

I actually have a 600 that I bought with a modified peep sight. A previous owner had attached a circular disc with a hole in it to the original rear sight. I can't tell whether its a solder or weld attachment. I can't post a picture for you but its another idea for a peep sight.

If you wanted to drill and tap the receiver, you could get one of the old Mossberg peep sights such as the S130 to probably work okay. I have seen them on Cooeys. It would probably be best to use a Lyman globe front sight with it, except I can't remember off hand if the 600 has a dovetail front sight. I believe the Lyman requires a dovetail.

You could mill the back of the action like a model 62, 78, and 82 if you don't mind permanently altering the gun. Then you could put on a cooey peep sight. The original peep sights are a little hard to find. The originals are great, but if you want to go that route, and can't get one, I sell replacements.

I saw some aperture sights offered by Williams gun sights or Lyman. About $90-$100Unfortunately, you will have to drill and tap on the side of the receiver as most of them seems to be receiver sights. I suggest you to visit their websites.

I found an open sight that I wish to buy for my Cooey. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=16328/Product/_WDOS__DOVETAIL_OPEN_SIGHT
How can I know which size to buy... 3/16, 1/4 or 5/16 ??
